          OTOH, on the 5-on-3 the first of Skinner’s multiple whacks (I counted 4) was accidentally credited to EDM, even though the follow-ups are credited to CAR a second later. So 25-8 is correct, it’s just distributed a little differently.

      Funny, I raged at NHL.com and Fox Sports Carolinas for 30min last night because they blacked this one out for me. Clearly, I should not have wasted my time.

      Whitney looks like he is skating through mud while wearing cement boots. On Quaaludes. There’s no way that guy is healthy. If this is healthy he’s done.

      In my haste to get to bed and forget about this garbage, I made a mistake. My apologies.

      Riv: I never thought of that angle – longterm and career-wise for 6 – but considering the injuries he’s had to the same part of his body, I guess it’s certainly a possibility.

      This has been such a dreadful homestand for the team that it’s sucked out a great deal of my fandom. I had hope earlier on because the Oilers were outchancing at home and that looked like it should continue. But now they’ve completely fallen apart and the PK is quietly awful again – only covered up because of such early success – and there doesn’t look to be a whole lot of hope.

        Cosh and I were talking about Whitney the other night and came to the same conclusion. Cosh said, and I agree, “I sense that a doctor has said, ‘Welp, maybe he’ll improve, maybe he won’t, but there’s no sense not playing him at this point unless he wants to retire.’”

        Awful.

          You think it’s that bad? To the point where it won’t improve?

          I know earlier this year I called into question how much we could count on him, ie durability and GP. But it never dawned on me that he would be garbage in the interm. I thought he would be a 40 point player with a plus number who would be good when he played but would be made of glass.

            I think I gave him 30 games this year. I didn’t factor in the Oilers’ penchant for sending men into the breach. Historically, the Oilers training staff has been selected from Aztlan.
