DD-Khabby
You had a few things happen in this one that lead to the loss.
1. Despite making some great saves, DD let in a soft goal and the other goalie gave no such freebies.
2. Lots of errant passes and plays from the D; even the 5-77 tandem and 44. It’s expected that the other three D will at some point look terrible/unable.
3. 5 took two penalties and there went one of our best PK guys; so, a double-shot.
4. Oilers wasted the first period banging their head against a wall and refusing to counteract the Yotes gameplan.
Still, they charged enough to almost tie the game and 4 had the best chance when 93 broke through two defenders and three penalties to set him up to the left of Smith.
“when 93 broke through two defenders and three penalties to set him up to the left of Smith.”
I laughed out loud.
Kinger: so you’re staying I still got it?????
I saw lots of interference by the Yotes tonight. Then again there have been a couple of games this year where the Oilers only got called for one out of every three penalties they deserved.
How many officials Do you need before it all gets called?
Terrible second period.
Hey I’m back! I just had to delete my website from my profile and I’m legal again. Hmmm.
Sorry for extended silence, I read the scoring chance posts religiously. Well, religiously for an atheist.
I thought Teubert had a pretty nice game, and it would seem scoring chances agree with that assessment.
No worries, Bruce. I don’t think Ty and I want anyone here who doesn’t believe in Jesus, anyway.
Yeah by my eye Teubert has been alright.
Coyotes are a tough team to play against. Don’t give you an inch of room anywhere on the ice.
There were two brutal cross checks to Jones as well that went unnoticed.
Though the scoring changes say 28 was 3-3 I thought he had his worst game of the year.
@Dennis: One quibble, I see you didn’t credit a scoring chance on Langkow’s goal. Agreed it shouldn’t have gone in the net, but I thought he shot from just inside the faceoff dot so technically within “home plate”.
@Trentent: Agreed Jones had a miserable time last night. Reffing was very inconsistent at best, two absolutely chintzy penalties on Smid, one for crosschecking, but in the dying minutes apparently it’s OK to try to break a guy’s ribs. Also saw what Dennis saw w.r.t. RNH getting folded, spindled and mutilated as he came out of the corner to set up Hall.
We do have to remember we were playing NHL’s team last night. The optics are frigging terrible.
that was a backhand; how many times do you score from there? I could not label that a chance.
Smid allowed that backhand to come from a pretty primo area. I would have called that a chance, but it doesn’t really matter.
