Terrible result given the opposition but this team is bad without 10 OR 83 but take both out of the lineup and even a dog wouldn’t eat this breakfast.

the first line was great, the fourth line was low-event – though a dumb penalty by 33 mars their night – and the 13 and 67 lines weren’t good by any measure.

There are only so many options Renney has right now. Not much else to say except next Tues and Thurs vs SJ and LA should be especially ugly.

      PWNED.

Question: Which was worse, Oilers PK or Oilers PP? I can’t decide.

Was really hoping to see more out of 23 playing with 27 and 13, but that line didn’t accomplish much.

Hall had 8 of their 24 shots. Crazy.

Like Renney suggested, 6 benefited from the calming influence of 43.

Keep waiting for 5 to come around, but I think that train already left the station. Regardless of where he plays the SC come raining down around him.

Bruce: at some point we know that probably the personnel isn’t here to have a good PK but how much of our problem is that and how much of it is the coaching, ie diamond?

TB went 1/5 on Fri, Van scored a quasi PP goal on Sun and now two tonight from a TO team that had a Season road total of five or six coming into the game.

I asked gregor just before the winning streak when the MSM was gonna talk about the PK and he asked me did I think the PK was a big story just because I thought it was?:)

      Dennis,

Was talking with PDO this afternoon about taking the under with TO in reg. (which I hit for a unit)

He talked me into doing another bet with Philly in reg + under and TO in reg + under.

Only bet one unit but it hit at +1167

Had a PL ticked filled out tonight with Lakers, Flyers and TO and didn’t cash it:(

The PK is a big story because it’s historically awful.

It’s the worst penalty killing average since the Los Angeles Kings in 1981-82. Why wouldn’t it be a big story?

At least it’s gotten better… it was rolling at 67% for a while.

DB: for sure. I just thought his response was very odd. BTW, I don’t think we have the guys here to staff a great PK unit but there’s also a huge issue with using the diamond formation.

    11. December 15, 2010 at

… and for those keeping score, Mr. Omark’s early results are not promising: 35:46 at evens, 1 SCF, 17 SCA. Good grief.

    12. December 15, 2010 at

Btw, on the year there’s no question it’s the Oilers PK that has been the bigger underperformer, but last night I have to give the nod – or should I say the thumbs down – to the powerplay, which in four opportunities over 6:30 were outchanced 0-2 and outshot 1-3 by the 29th ranked PK in the league. Which is to say, the worst unit we’ll face, since our PP never gets the chance to fatten up its stats against the 30th ranked PK for obvious reasons. >:(

The PK had the odd breakdown, whereas the PP damn nearly caused me to have one.

That’s my scoring chance count for the game, I came up with 21-16 for Toronto in total, and 16-13 for the Oilers at EV.
I also tracked Time on Attack (puck possession time in the offensive zone) for the game, by team, period, and strength, in case anyone is interested.

Dennis, It’s not just the diamond formation that’s an issue (though it doesn’t make much sense)… it’s this insane rotation that they pull where defencemen go all the way high and forwards cross over.

How this PK isn’t getting any mention is a crime. Too bad #18 isn’t around to blame it on.
