      4-13-67
      33-16-28
      27-89-83
      91-10-14

      43-5
      6-77
      49-2

      DD-JDD

The lines moved around a bit tonight so the only thing we can say for certain is that the 13-67 pair were once again guarenteed garbage and that dealing either for a real dman would be a damn fine idea and that 67′s pact won’t look like a fine idea if he isn’t given very good linemates.

      Game thoughts:

      - the Oilers outchanced at EV so that’s always a good thing; though it should read 14-12 because the goal by 4 happened in a 6 on 5 situation and is reading 5 on 5 in the table.

      - It’s nights like tonight when the forwards look good on rare occasion that the D helps them that make you wonder what this team would look like with two more real dmen to augment the 5-6-77 troika and then 49 filling the 6th dman role. It’s also a night like tonight when you see vandermeer being Paid - the difference in cap hit doesn’t matter when you don’t bother to use the space - not a whole lot less than Souray that you know that Lowe’s still in charge because pettiness is something he’s practiced since the days of Mike Comrie. With three rookies to fawn over on a daily basis and Khabby always a hair from being the next Beecher of EM City – that’s an OZ reference – there’s no way old comments from Souray would be a part of the daily discussion. Iff you wanted this team to be less vomit-inducing then you make up with Souray and you move 13 or 67 for a real dman and you’re a lot more balanced. As it is though the D is terrible and so shall be this team on many occasions. Maybe all this will be rectified for the 2013 season when Tambellini gets his fifth chance to really make the org his own. Is that the number we’re at now? I think Ty’s been keeping track;)

Thanks so much Dennis! Love these. They do tell a lot about a player. Scoring chances are one of my favorite post game reads. Never comment much, but always read it. Thanks again!

Dennis, are the individual player totals generated automatically? Cuz I did a random test of Cogliano and Brule (both marked at +3 -7 at evens) and I get +4 -7 for Cogs and +4 -6 for Brule.

Tough night for Hemsky to go +6 -1 at evens and wind up the night -1 in traditional +/-. On the other hand, 1 lousy scoring chance in 5:53 PP TOI is not very bloody good.

Oh, there is the main culprit. 2:29 of the 1st, it looks like a PP that simply wasn’t marked as such. I should have looked across the whole row at the manpower situation.

    6. October 28, 2010 at

Cogs and Brule kinda stand out cuz they’re the only two guys on the whole team who were negative at even strength. Funny that on a night the team outchanced by just 2, that all 6 D would be even or better.

I’m inclined to acknowledge that Cogliano and Brule weren’t very good, but still give them something of a pass because Arniel was picking on them with Nash’s line quite a bit. I know that Nash’s combo wasn’t the one that killed them, but those minutes have got to eat at you over the course of a game, and asking those two to take on the toughs just isn’t a very good idea.

Everyone that moves to their line ends up as a sink.

To all: can someone log tonight’s game for me and then send the results to dtking27@hotmail.com?

I might catch a period or two online or something but it won’t be sufficent enough to catch all the action.

Cogliano and Brule the only players with negative chance differential? Hmmmmmmmmmm…

If the team is content with keeping Cogliano on the roster, at least try something like moving Brule to centre and Cogliano to the wing. What have they got to lose? Both guys could be playing without sticks and their numbers probably wouldn’t reflect the change.
