This performance plus four days of practice should mean we’ve seen the end of the 91-13-67 line.

The Oilers were 13/21 at EV and 83 was 9/4 on the night. So, if 83 wasn’t on the ice then Edm was 4/17 at EV

That guy should get out now.

Dennis, you’re looking at it backwards. Brule was 0-8. So, if Brule wasn’t on the ice, it was 13-13 at evens.

We saw it the same, with Flames a 2-1 scoring chance advantage. As usual, I was a bit more liberal in handing out chances. I had it 31-15 for Flames overall, 26-12 at even strength.

The main creators, Hemsky, Eberle, Penner.
The main culprits, pretty much every d-man.

4 powerplays, 0 (zero) chances for, 1 against. Disgraceful.

Fraser and Jones torched for another PP goal last night.

      That’s 4 in 2 games now.

Dennis, we were right on track aside from the first. I might re-watch things to try to understand why were so far off.

Iginla looks to be back, his line was terrific. They manhandled every Oiler line except for the Hemsky unit. Hemsky’s line was also dominant.

By my rough count from above, Iggy was on the ice for 13 EV scoring chances. 11 of those vs Hemsky. Except for the stretch with all the PPs in the middle of the game, it looked to be a hard match to my eye.

      Hemsky’s line went +6 and -5 vs Iggy. And +3 and -0 against CGY’s bottom 9.

Iggy went +2 -0 against EDM’s bottom 9. Both against the Cogliano line, and it could have been far worse.

If Iginla can stay on form, and if Bourque, Langkow, Moss and Stone ever get healthy … they’re going to be playing entirely in the Oilers end of the rink in future games.

And Brule was brutal. Lowetide suggested he is playing through injury. That makes sense to me. They should rest the guy, these cats just never learn. His line just couldn’t get he puck into the CGY end, and on the rare occasions when they did they just couldn’t keep it there. I thought Paajarvi had a couple of good shifts with Fraser and Jones, though.

Dawgbone: That’s actually 5 in 2 games, after 16-28 were victimized for all 4 GA in Minny. Still trying to figure out what Renney was thinking going with both forwards and just one defender on the 3v4 PK that decided the game. Seemed like 16 and 28 were both trying to do the same job, and eventually all three Oiler skaters lined up in front of Khabibulin trying to block the shot that never came. Instead the puck went middle-point to down-low-left to down-low-right to back-of-net. Maybe it’s a Renney innovation to replace the box or triangle with the “vertical line”, but the early results suggest it don’t fuckin’ work.

My mistake Bruce, I never went and looked but I didn’t think it was them on the ice for the first one.

It was Gilbert who was “only” on the ice for 3 of the goals against Minny.
