      DD-JDD

      77-41
      49-43
      58-8

We’re at the point now where even I know I should use a key to explain the numbers of the players but if you still care enough to check in here for the scoring chance numbers then you already know who these guys are or you’ll care enough to look it up:)

      19-16-34
      27-89-12
      13-78-67
      28-10-46

Not sure why both 18 and 91 didn’t make the lineup.

Oilers get outchanced 7-36 and I am pretty certain this is a record.

I will say this to the B’s fans who want the #1 pick and are depending on the Leaves poor play to get it for them; and I will also acknowledge much love to the early Simpsons ep about the strike at the nuclear powerplant.

You can hope all you want for a great pick at the Leaves expense; they don’t have any forwards but the Oilers lack in netminding and defense.

A fascinating game, fascinating. I couldn’t look away.

Also Dennis, I didn’t read through all the comments at Lowetide, but I’m sure you’d agree that today’s actions indicate a full blown rebuild.

Props to Lowe and Tambellini for convincing Katz that this was the route to take. They’ve saved their jobs for at least a few more years, methinks.

      Condolences to remaining Oiler fans.

    5. March 4, 2010 at

      7-36 including a 4-4 first period. 3-32 after that.

Give Dubnyk credit, the score at least would appear to be from an actual NHL game.

    6. March 4, 2010 at

Btw, Vic’s site has Gagner at an astonishing +4 Corsi and Penner at +1, on a night the team was -47. Gagner was on the ice for 10 Oiler shot attempts at evens and 6 against; when he was on the bench that count was +8/-59. !!

Can’t even blame Moreau this time.

      Unbelievable.

It’s just criminal that these guys will be running things for this rebuild. Criminal.

hi thank you for posting NHL Game Number 20938 Scoring Chances it is nice piece of information. I like to see NHL very much. This table is too good

    9. March 4, 2010 at

Man, this is Stafford’s first post, and he’s already got the wry, “The Edmonton Oilers are a team in the National Hockey League”-style intentional understatement down to a science.

In other news, a team with one NHL defenceman played the best team in said League tonight.

    10. March 4, 2010 at

      Dear god!

      No, wait.

Dear Gord! (better not sully His name on that one) -47 at ES? You guys actually had me go rummage through the garbage can that was the Habs december…

      Lemme see:

The habs had a 14-32 (-46 Corsi) game against Toronto.

      That’s pretty much it!

      Jeebus.

I’m glad someone looked up Gagner’s Corsi tonight. I was thinking that tonight for the first time it really dawned on me that this is a really good hockey player. He does a lot of little things right and continues to grow. Must be frustrating, though, to have so many clever plays go absolutely nowhere.

How about Horc? Playing with the Geico cavemen, and still netting one. Lolz

    12. March 4, 2010 at

Vic: they tried to rebuild on the fly and that didn’t work and now I think they might stripmine the place.

My only questions now are how hard will they work to get rid of 10 and 27 and if they will just say fuck it and dangle 83 at the draft.

A piece of me says they have a number in mind payroll wise that’s just high enough for the fans to still keep supporting – they can sell MPS plus Eberle plus Hall or Seguin – and they’ll go from there.

I thought with a few savvy moves we’d be knocking on the door for the playoffs next year but they didn’t get anything real for 37 and they got an already paid question mark for 71 so I’m having a hard time figuring out where they go from here in order to make next year’s playoffs.

And maybe this is all spite from Katz that the public money isn’t flowing as freely as he thought it would and if the fans stay away then hello american city.

god, edmonton must be a shithole

      go outside and enjoy life

A piece of me says they have a number in mind payroll wise that’s just high enough

Dennis: The one piece of evidence that I took as a positive yesterday on the $$$ front, is that the Visnovsky-Whitney deal was done to create cap room (a cool $1.6 MM per), yet the actual salary due the two men for the last three years breaks down thusly:

      Visnovsky: $6 + $5 + $3 = $14 MM
      Whitney: $4.5 + $5 + $5.5 = $15 MM

… which is not the move of a man who is trying to take the cheap way out. No guarantee they’ll actually use that cap space, but it is there to be used, at no savings of real $$$ in creating it.

@Horrifying: I’m one of the few posters who actually lives here in Edmonton, and it’s not actually a shithole. Not perfect to be sure, but it has its charms. Your advice, however, is excellent.
