In keeping with the merging of blogs and the media documented by Andy at BoA recently, Ron MacLean just dropped a reference to the blogs in particular and Mirtle’s posts about the disappearance of Russians in the NHL in particular. Unfortunately, MacLean drew a blank on the name, which is also hilarious. Someone at CBC should make sure that MacLean corrects that.
Update: According to Jeff J in the comments, he thinks it was this post at The Puck Stops Here.
I’m not 100% positive on this, but I think MacLean was referring to this post at Pusk Stops Here. He specifically mentioned the number of Russians dropping from around 57 every year down to half that.
I have been beating this particular drum for quite a while, but I didn’t see HNIC tonight (at least not with the sound on), so I can’t say whether or not I thought he referenced my piece.
In any event, it’s great to hear Ron’s engaged with the blogosphere, and that the ideas being passed around are being discussed on such an incredibly mainstream forum. That can only be a good thing.
Ah, well apologies to Puck Stops Here then. That’s a fine site as well.
theres only 10 russian defencemen in the nhl this year but they are 1, 2, 3 in points (zubov, gonchar, markov). also just read the latest hockey world by jim matheson he quoted mikko koivu as being the wilds “best player” what a joke on a team with gaborik, rolston, and demitra
